Special issue:

Journalism and its mediating function between reality and citizens has undergone a profound transformation in the last two decades as a consequence of the constant technological innovations that have modified the professional culture of journalism, the forms of production and dissemination of journalistic content and the audience consumption practices.
Reflecting on the future of journalism and observing its development trends in the coming years constitutes one of the main challenges of journalism studies within the framework of a sociocultural and technological scenario of enormous complexity that is driving us towards a redefinition of the current ecosystem. technological of the relationship established between journalists, citizens and political and cultural institutions. One of the most significant transformations today is the creation of new consumption habits of digital, interactive and multimedia media that imply new ways of producing, organizing and disseminating
This new context requires a deep debate by teachers and researchers in the area of journalism and communication about the training needs of the new generations of journalists trained in communication faculties.
In this special issue we propose to the community of researchers to answer these questions to create knowledge about one of the dimensions that is most intensely transforming the journalistic media, the professional practice of journalism and citizens who consume news and information. This Speical issue is linked to the central theme of the XXX International Congress of ‘Sociedad Española de Periodística’ (SEP), which will be held on June 6 and 7, 2024 at the Aranjuez Campus of the Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid.Spain )
