Abstract

This article aims to analyze the journalistic content distributed by traditional media on digital social networks, especially Facebook. The theoretical discussion is based on the migration process of conventional vehicles to online platform and its presence on the digital social networks, arguing that one of the purposes of this recent change is to give a greater scope of visibility to the content produced. The article focuses on what type of content has been selected to circulate on Facebook’s online platform, as research has show that some issues have a greater visibility than the others. Thus, using quantitative research, we analyze the Facebook posts published by 11 traditional Brazilian newspapers, from the months of July to October, 2014. The results indicate the predominance of the entertain  ment theme on the published posts and the different strategies used by the different newspapers, including amongst these the political visibility during the electoral campaign.
