As a result of the important crisis that the business model of the press is going through, the debate about the future of this media has been intensified during the last years. Further away technological and business answers, it is also necessary a professional redefinition of the press, that positions it properly in the communicative nowadays panorama. In accordance with the most generalized hypothesis in the theoretical debate, the methodological specialization is arisen as an economical opportunity and necessary professional expansion channel for the press and the journalism in the next decades. Looking for the keys for this professional redefinition, the classical model of reference press is revised in an updated way and the Le Monde diplomatique case are deeply analyzed.
