The launching of Diario 16 (1976 october-1977 march)

Abstract

This article describes the origin and beginnings of D16. The period considered starts with the months prior to the publishing and finishes the stage during Ricardo Utrilla was in charge. To that effect, interviews and unpublished sources, provided by some of main actors, have been used. The present article deals both with the difficult process on defi ning the newspaper and the recruitment of the initial staff . It also includes a description of the newspaper’s style and layout. Finally, it analyzes the reason which caused Utrilla’s early dismissal in march 1977.
