Estudio de caso del tratamiento mediático de tres divas de la música pop: ¿información especializada o sexismo?
Abstract
This research analyses the treatment that digital media specialising in music, specifically Los 40 principales (Spain) and Billboard magazine (USA), give to american female pop stars (Britney Spears, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus) with the aim of finding out whether they highlight more their physical appearance and events linked to their personal lives or whether, on the contrary, they focus on their artistic side. The main methodological tool used was the content analysis of the news published on the websites of both media during the summer of 2016, before other styles displaced media interest.
In-depth interviews have been conducted with experts on the subject.
The results highlight that, although in general both media have focused their attention on musical aspects, there are some exceptions of intrusion into the personal lives of the artists or value judgements on their physical appearance.
