Abstract

Luis Bonafoux Quintero (1855-1918) was probably the most brilliant, admired, followed, hated and dreaded Spanish journalist of the latter years of the 19th century and the former of the 20th. Very famous in his period, today is completely forgotten. He found and managed papers; he was the first correspondent in Paris of the Madrilenian paper ,«the Herald». He was the first who spoke in Spain about the Dreyfus case and Zola. The only one who dared to face the all powerful Clarin. He was chased because of his writtings in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Spain, France and England. He travelled around the world; Puerto Rico, La Habana, París, Madrid, Salamanca, Argelia, Roma, Marruecos, Berlín, Venecia, Reinosa, Londres, and wrote about the things he saw. Jose Luis Cano affirms that «his chronicles provoked controversy, threats and duels to pistol «.
