Abstract

The media are living in a transition from a decade ago. The mediamorphosis (Fidler, 1998) is a reality of the global media landscape. The information has changed in its times and forms. Internet does not generate a better or worse journalism (Randall, 1996), but the structures and processes have been modified by digital routines (Salaverría and Negredo, 2008: 21-31). The choice for the changes is the convergence, implemented under newsroom integration. The integrated newsroom is usual in major media in the world but has multiple interpretations. The concept seems more mature and less «myopic» (McCombs, 2009), more digital today. In this study, this phenomenon is analyzed from its origin, definition and practice, focusing on Spain to see if it is necessary, feasible and definitive.
